I always saw school as a game, possibly because I grew up surrounded by enthusiastic learners and my father left teaching in frustration.
My son understood perfectly that school was a game but refused to play it.
About you:
I am a surbaban mom with grown kids that I ended up home-schooling. It began with my son, who was refusing to cooperate with school, and then my daughter, much younger, was jealous. It culminated in me becoming a history teacher in our community, which I still do two years after my daughter's graduation. In fact, she's teaching Algebra there this year.
